Back on the Bike

back on the bike yesterday, i haven't ridden much at all the last two weeks with such record high temps. it was still in the 90's on my ride and i was sucking in the air. the ride was hard for some reason, the same 25 mile loop that i have done a number of times, but it felt like 100. painful! i tired to think about the days when i was doing long hours on the recumbent fully loaded down going up some crazy mountain pass but nothing seemed to help my lungs adjust to the air that was coming in. i stopped here next to the cows for a water break and to eat a bite of my cliff bar. i wasn't the only one needing a little drink, i looked over to see a bunch of little cows sucking away. tried to get a photo of it, but was not fast enough.

i usually don't stop more than once on my rides no matter how long they are but today struggling the way i was and seeing this sign, i decided that i should take a picture. to remind me that Heavenly Father is always with me through all my struggles and hard times. i saw the missionaries the other day and started to cry they were out on their bikes riding delivering the good news to the people in 102 degree weather, and it hit me... the church is true and i am blessed to be a part of it.
today i went to andrew and lisa's stake conference elder Bednar was there reorganizing the stake presidency. he is a different man than the one i knew on the Ricks College campus, he seems much lighter, funnier, personable. his talk was amazing, i felt the spirit today more than i have in a really really long time. i was thankful to be in his presence, and to hear his voice as a servant of God. it was really a great experience for me.

I'm glad you had such a good experience.. or experiences. We all need those from time to time... regardless of what are are trying, or hoping, to find - we need those times that we can just sit, take a deep breath, and refocus on the things that are important and will allow us to follow that inner voice that we all should be so reliant on!

I'm glad you were able to hear Elder Bednar and feel the spirit. Also, that you were so touched when you saw the missionaries out riding their bikes. It's weird how the spirit speaks to us at different times. Love you. MOM
