my new adventure...

 well the plan is now officially in effect... im building me a small rustic cabin, out on the land i grew up on, the cabin site is just into the pine tree's.  i have always wanted to be be back home on the homestead, and really i never knew when it would happen, but its now on its way.  i will be salvaging as much of the materials i can. i am a true believer of recycling and making due with things that are just laying around.  i have found that one persons junk is anther's treasure, and in this case MY TREASURES!!!  i have spent many many hours already researching building, best places to salvage, and already picked up some great things.  check in on my blog every once in a while and you will see my progress and hopefully you will enjoy the journey along with me. 

 this is the view from (soon to be) front window, down to the pond.  i love this time of year when the pond is big and full and beautiful.

 the first load i picked up, (unfortunately i don't have pics) but i have nine 55 gallon bags full of good insulation.  thank you judy.  i found this treasure when i was out on my bike ride and just a few miles before that i found a double sink from a remodel that i also picked up.  thank you eric

 a big old pile of plywood was also taken out of judy's place, she is having a remodel done after having a house fire, i was worried that they would smell like smoke, but they seem to be great and will work just fine as my outside plywood.  thanks judy

 taking out the nails, this took me a couple of hours, but well worth it.  i should mention as well that judy and eric both live just a few miles from the cabin site, so far not much has been spent on gas money and only 10 bucks have been spent in the 55 gallon garbage bags!

 my next and biggest score so far was from matt and chuck, less then a mile from my cabin site, they had all sorts of different types of lumber.  the deal was take all or none, they wanted the spot cleaned up so i waited for blake to come down to help and also knew i would be needing dad's big truck, the 10 foot trailer just would not be big enough for it.  thank you matt and chuck

 this was the first load of crap wood that we took out of there.  we will be having quite a big bon fire this year.  its too bad that this wood went bad, it was on the ground and just rotted out.

 mom and i got out a huge tarp and now all my lumber is under a tarp and just in time for the rain storm that was brewing up above...

 flat rocks, maybe will be used by the fireplace, maybe a pathway, who knows, but i have them for when i need them.  i also picked up a bunch of pvc piping and a few big beams. 

and the rain hit.  well i have talked with so many people and have a lot of leads out there, so i should be pretty busy from here on out.  stay tuned for what else is to come.
