cabin building part 27...

 well for about five days i took over the living room of my parents house to dry out this beautiful wood that i got at diversified wood recycling center.  kurt that i work with told me about this place this summer and its amazing, people pay to drop off old wood that they no longer want.  it is then bull dozed into a huge pile and it burnt and they convert it to energy.  however as a consumer you are welcome to come and pull out what ever you want.  its 10-20 a truck load, i have spent my time in that pile of mess and found some amazing treasure, this is one of them.  for about 5 or 6 dollars i got a ton of this old weathered cedar.  and by a ton i mean just the right amount to side the walls of the cabin.  literally down to the last board.

 literally 5 or 6 bucks.  that is a big old smile on my face. 

 the "in house" was already sided with the cedar that i had got from judy this fall, i had a little left over so i decided to do the exterior wall with it as well. 

 almost done. 

 next it was time to put up my "in house" door.  thank you judy (different judy) who sold me this amazing solid wood door for 5 bucks.  my plan is to paint it a rust color which will match the kitchen wall but for now i just wanted to get it hung up and make sure that i built the door frame okay.  working on notching out wood for the hinges. 

 dad came over, and helped me put it in place, my frame was good and after a little adjustments we got the door up.

my goal is to be in the cabin in may and if things keep going the way they are that will totally happen.  thank you everyone who has helped me along the way and thank you for the visitors that i have had.  this week lisa and the kids and nichol came by to say hi and check it out which was great to have them over and i had a nice little surprise visit by canyon river and cj who brought me a hot lunch.  thanks everyone.
