well much has happened in the last few weeks up here at galena, but im just gonna focus on this last weekend, friday, saturday and sunday was filled with laughs and smiles by all. starting on sunday and working backwards. first sunday we had the galena loppet, which is a fun ski tour of the perimeter of the galena trails, its about 25 km. this is a fun event (most dress up) the ski tour consits of a poker game, donuts, and beer, by the end of the tours your huffing up a hill after just eating donuts and washing it down with beer. (not my idea of a good ski) but most love it. we had once again a great turn out.
we start the tour by hiding every ones skis out in the teaching area, we throw a chicken in the and shoot it down (yes it is a rubber chicken), everyone then runs around trying to find both there skis and off they go. it is a pretty funny sight. 
Saturday night was the galena benefit, to raise money to keep galena going, this is a wonderful event. im so blessed that both years betsy has been kind enough to buy my two tickets. (they are 100.00 a plate) i sure have some ladies that love me, and i them. i met betsy and the other ladies when first working here at galena, they come every week and go for a snowshoe, or a hike in the summer time. they are WONDERFUL. the benefit was again a success, around 200,000 dollars were raised to support galena and the trails. it is amazing to watch the live auction take place. betsy and her husband bought a dinner for 20 people at galena for 7,000 dollars. AMAZING. anyway the event was a blast.
don also has been growing out his beard for the last 5 years to raise money for galena, the month of january we had two jars at the lodge a SAVE IT, and a SHAVE IT jar. both had pictures of him on them, one bearded and one clean shave. it has been fun to see the customers bicker over there votes. erin and i made T-Shirts to sport during the event. we walked around with a big picture of don on the front and on the back it said SAVE IT. when it came down to it over 2,000 dollars were raised and the final decision the old ladies won out and it came off, right there on stage!!! such a great time.
i have never seen don all clean shave its a bit of a shock.
and then the dancing. erin and i had a great idea to show everyone what galena really is made of. we can throw some really good dance parties, so that is what we did, we got out our party pants and had quite a show. i sure love to get all dressed up, i put on those pants and fro and a new person comes out. the dancing was a blast. we actually didn't get home until after 2:30 in the morning!!! good times were had a quite a few laughs. no one could believe that was me. i loved it.
then friday night (what a few days). one of our customers jess was turning 40 and her friends threw a amazing NORDIC VIKING themed party. there was about 75 people in the lodge all dressed up as nordic vikings. there was lots of party games (yes they were really really drunk) which was quite funny at moments, dinner and lots of dancing.
we too decided to dress up a bit, i was even wearing my mukluks.

mike and i, just having a good time as well.well the last three days were wonderful, fun packed, but we are all really tired after all is said and done. we are looking forward to this week were not much is going on. we are really to get rested and ready for saturday for the big BOULDER MOUNTAIN TOUR. the big race of the year. it is 30 KM and about 800 people show up for it. well that is my update. love you all
