recycled twine basket...

okay so here is the story of a lovely lady... oh wait i mean basket, my recycled twine basket. to make it brief and not boring, i will just say this. last june on a amazingly fun adventure and bike tour with cono and eileen i couldn't help but notice A LOT of hay bail twine on the sides of the roads. apparently the twine blows out of the back of the ranchers trucks to litter the highways and NEVER leave mother earth. so i got this idea to start picking it up (with help from cono and eileen) and soon i had a big bucket full.

i grabbed a few friends to help start the process out. (oh and thank your shira for teaching me this type of basketry)

the start, 32 strands of twine makes for a 64 ribbed basket.

strap, this is a five loop braid. started with 30 feet of rope looped it into five sections and started the braid, i wish i had pictures of this or better yet a video because it is an amazing to see it done. not only did i use both my hands, and six fingers and two thumbs i used my right foot as well. fun to watch im sure.

and the pack/basket is now ready for harvest season or whatever else i chose to use it for.
