well the fall has come and it came fast. when i left for the gatherings the weather was still nice and hot and sunny and now its cold and starting to rain more and more. i had a great time away but unfortunately nothing happened on the cabin in one of the nicest months we have had since breaking ground. oh well what can i do.
the plan is to now start to work on the rafters and get this roof on already. the problem is that my dad is now full of work and he is part of the brain of this operation. so i take him when he can help and figure it out when he can't.
the morning was really cold but i was happy to have his help.

i had to build some extension beams for the rafter at the back and front of the cabin. i have to say i made some really nice notches and hopefully they are correct. i guess i will find out.

you might want to double click on this picture so you can see it a bit bigger what i have been dealing with. i hate and i mean i HATE STINK BUGS, and they are every where out here this time of year. i pulled back one of the tarps covering the window and this is what i found. there were literally hundreds of stink bugs crawling on each other. GROSS, SICK, NASTY!!!! anyway i put on my big girl pant and took care of the situation. :(
mom had a few hours so we decided to work on putting up a window. this is the bottom part of the frame.
and here it is, moma is quite happy. one of the three windows in. well sort of in, there is still a bit more work to do, but at least it is in the hole and i made the hole the correct size!!!!
thank you dave wells for the windows. its just super fun knowing how much i have salvaged. make me quite happy.
speaking of salvaged, this door was also a great find, the inside is a beautiful wood finish however this side someone decided to paint aqua (it looks white, but its a terrible aqua paint job) so my thoughts were, NO PROBLEM i will just sand it down and have the wood again....
think again. this is how much i got sanded off after a hour and a half of work, so i went to plan B.
brought some paint remover and it worked wonders, well mostly wonders. i would say it took off about 90% of the paint.
i bought a second can and went at it again. now about 99% is off but the rest is in the wood groves and i can't really get it out. i tried a few different things but its not quite how i want it.
im thinking i will stain it like this and see what the look is, it may give it a cool look, if not i will end of painting it. guess we will see.
dad has been bugging me to make some steps, but i haven't wanted to waste my time and materials on stairs when i will have to rebuild them when i make my deck, so for now this is my steps. NICE huh??? it may not look stable but they actually are.
well that is the update for now. asap i will keep working on the roof. i need about four more arms and a few more legs to get this job done. so if anyone is itching for a project COME SEE ME...
