now with the counter in i can start to build my shelves. first i have to give a big shout out to lisa and bill bennett THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!!! they gifted me a mini fridge, its gonna work great and is the perfect size. i decided with the help of my parents suggestion to have the fridge up off the floor so i don't have to bend over every time i want to get into it. so off to work i go. i wanted to make sure i could still have plenty of space under this shelf for storage bins. papa steve came over and helped me come up with a great design. THANKS DAD.
i had some left over laminate from my composting "in house" to use on the shelf. this will be great and easy for cleaning off, plus it looks so damn good.
ended up building a little box for the mini fridge to sit in so it cant be pushed around. also i put those two strips of wood in to raise the fridge up just enough so when the door is open fully it will even be able to come across the counter top.
a perfect fit if you ask me. again lisa and bill thank you so much. salvaging materials is the BEST!
next is working on the shelves that will become my closet space. its fun to figure out the best way to use my limited space. if you haven't already you guys should check out tumble weed houses or small living space web sites. they are a lot of fun to look at. people could live with so less if they just wanted too. anyway im happy with what i have, i call it my OWN. :)
making sure everything is level as i go.
so under the fridge i can stack three storage bins tall and two wide. 6 bins!!! i love it.
next i built the shelves to the right of the fridge. things are coming along quite nicely. at this point the back wall is just about done, need to build door for the closet and do the trim work. there will be either cabinet doors for the storage bins or maybe just a tapestry. we shall see. its nice to have a place to actually store my tools and such now.
