surendering...

(from my travels continued)

im preparing my heart for my journey without my new tribe. knowing full well that leaving will be something that i don't want to do. im not ready to go back to work. im ready for the community life. (luckily i do still have six weeks on the road). a tribe with these folks would work. we each have something different to offer. the only other tribe that could possible be any better is with my family, my parents, my siblings, and their spouses and kids. im so blessed to have them, the relationships that we have are so close. we have so much love for one another. im surrendering to life and hope that in this surrender i too will find love in a companion.

went for a wonderfully beautiful drive today to a place called long swamp and am camping out tonight next to the river. the aspen trees are amazing, bright yellow, orange, and red. i drove through a shower of leaves falling on my windshield, made me think of and miss boulder utah. my heart still longs for that place. to be back in my cottage and living the simple life in the desert. my yams were cooked to perfection tonight on the fire. butter and salt and cooked till they were a bit burn and caramelized. MY FAVORITE.

spent the morning working on a beading project and finished the fishing net that i have been making with aspen wood and jute for the knotted net. took a warm (heated water on the fire) sponge bath in the woods and sang into the air my souls every desire.

enjoyed a day on palmar lake, (have been craving laying on a beach) found the perfect spot and decided to camp out under the stars. walked down the beach trying to find some more people to gift fruit to. met joan and lewie, both native american, they gladly excepted some pears in return if i would join them for dinner and conversation. we had a wonderful evening, (even made some popcorn on the fire).

the next morning joan and lewie went on a eagle feather hunt. they came back with a few. joan gifted me one. but since it is illegal for a white girl to have a eagle feather she wrote a note saying she is honoring me as her friend, by gifting me a feather. it was really nice of her. i enjoyed my time with them. they have had a hard life, and their stories and weathered faces show it. i was honored to have met them and spend a little time sharing our stories together.
