watch me poi...

well back to the wednesday night drum and hoop circle. i looked forward to this night all week, and once again it was a blast. i have been learning how to mess around with poi balls.

'Poi' is the Maori word for 'ball' on a cord. Poi is a form of juggling where the balls are swung around the body.

From it's beginnings Poi had the purpose of enhancing dance and rhythm. It was soon realised that Poi swinging had several other benefits from wrist strength, flexibility and improving co-ordination to name a few. And like all performance arts you are only limited by your imagination.

i have had so much fun implementing poi into my dancing. i laugh and giggle all night.

thanks albert your the best teacher EVER!

blake and nicholas drumming

tonight was awesome, there were quite a few more drummers than last weeks, and lots of good folks hooping, dancing, and just hanging out.

speaking of dancing...

blake, val, and i had a great time. we even got carol out to dance with us. both carol and val experienced a "larson sandwich" oh was that fun.
