How Strong are Your Roots?

"and beneath the arms of the noble tree i felt that i was safely home" john muir and are you safely home when you are in your place, your place that gives you comfort. where is your comfort spot? mine is in the woods, in the mountains, in the trees. i feel safe and intoxicated with freedom, with love, with hope of a better tomorrow. my feet are planted, roots grow in every direction holding me down to what i know is true, to what i know to be right. i'm high as drunken man on on his booze and choice of drug. my kite sores and gets caught in the wind, blowing in every direction but because of my roots, my feet planted on solid ground i don't waver. life is great, life is happy, life is still, and peaceful, full of a bliss that i can't write of, can't even speak of it. life is either a daring adventure or it is nothing at all. i am choosing the adventure, the freedom of the unknown. i play in the hot blistering sun, with shades on my eyes protecting my visions from being tainted by the ugliness of the world. the ugliness of what is all around. i choose to see the flowers rather the thorns, the rainbows rather the storms, the snowflakes rather the months of cold. but what can we learn from the thorns, storms, and cold? or can we? questions to be answered sometime by yourself in your comfort place, the place where your feet are planted, where your roots are growing and strong.
