winter count 2009...

winter count 2009 what a BLAST!!! as always it was nice to head down south in February to catch a few missed sun rays from the cold snowy winter. count was very much needed this year, i was feeling a bit not myself lately. IM BACK!!! seeing all my old friends and making new ones lifted my spirts once again. the week was filled with laughter, hugs, and lots of dancing, although i realized turning 30 this year had made me slow down a bit. sad to say, but i still had quite the time dancing around the fire.

picture above im wearing a felted (Navajo-rased Churro sheep) vest that my friend Katharine made, she has amazing talent, and the best thing about it is she made a trade for me. KATHARINE I LOVE IT, THANKS AGAIN!
you can see the vest a lot better in this pictures, but the lighting is terrible. oh well.

back view, katharine has only been felting for a couple of years, im hoping she will teach a felting class at rabbit stick or count next year, i would for sure take it.

a "butt" basket, this is just a one cheecked but, you can add a second cheeck, but i didn't have much time since i started this on the last day, i wanted to make sure i would finish in case i had any questions at the end. i love it, right now it is still in the drying process, the color will not be quite as bright. it is made out of willow

see how cute it is

my moc's im digging them, they are soooo comfy. this last weekend i was in the "big" city and i kept getting looks at my feet. i think everyone was jealous. by the way these were made out of a deer hide that i tanned.

back view

i didn't take pottery but susan was teaching so i had to include her
isac, david holliday, and mike powell
dang she looks good for 50, yep its my susan
katie making a basket, now that i have had some willow butt basket experience im gonna try for a big one
nice view huh?
k these are from last year, i didn't have any pictures untill now, so this is me (on right) and my greatest friend Karen (on left) working on our first deer hides.
getting into it
karen, i miss you!
drumming and dancing the night away. gosh i love the gatherings
can you tell which one i am??? neither can i

making fire with a hand drill, can you see the smoke, it's their
well the week was a blast, i miss all my friends already. i have made some really good friends over the years. i feel like they are all family
